The Story
The W126 S-Class is often cited as the best car Mercedes-Benz ever built. This 380SEL was found in a dusty garage in Johannesburg, parked for over 15 years following its owner's passing. With just 78,000 kilometres on the clock, it is a genuine time capsule of 80s executive luxury, but time has taken its toll on the rubber components and fueling system. Our goal is to awaken this sleeping giant and return it to the road as a testament to over-engineered German luxury. South Africa's dry Highveld climate has kept this 380SEL remarkably rust-free, a critical advantage for any classic car destined for import to the United States. The bodywork, subframes, and floor pans are in the kind of condition that American and Northern European examples simply cannot match. For collectors looking to buy a Mercedes W126 380SEL, provenance and structural integrity like this are becoming increasingly difficult to source. If you are interested in this W126 restoration project or would like to register your interest before it is completed, reach out early, cars of this calibre move quickly.
Refinement
Phase one involves a complete mechanical recommissioning: fuel system flush, brake overhaul, and suspension hydraulic refresh. Once running smoothly, we will address the cosmetic needs, including a bare-metal respray in its original Astral Silver. The interior will be deep-cleaned and preserved, replacing only what is strictly necessary to maintain its survivor status.
